Swedish bank stocks advanced in Stockholm after Sunday’s tight election reduced the perceived risk of a potential new tax on lenders. With the center-left opposition bloc currently ahead by just three seats, analysts see less room for the Social Democrats to deliver on proposals targeting the banking industry. The count can be extended to Thursday if necessary, with the late tally potentially being significant in determining the final result. Swedbank AB shares gained as much as 2.7% in Stockholm, their biggest advance since June. Svenska Handelsbanken AB and SEB AB each advanced 1.5%.
