TOKYO -- Juergen Schmidhuber, a researcher known as a pioneer of artificial intelligence, will join Tokyo-based AI developer Sakana AI as chief scientific adviser, the startup said Thursday.
施米德胡伯将继续担任其现有职务，包括在瑞士一家人工智能实验室的工作。
Schmidhuber will continue in his current positions, including work at a Swiss AI lab.

Called by many the father of modern AI, Schmidhuber is set to lead a research team focused on recursive self-improvement, in which AI improves its own development. He will visit Tokyo regularly to meet with the research team, Sakana AI said.
