SINGAPORE: A 50-year-old man will be charged in court on Saturday for allegedly starting a fire outside a mosque in Singapore's central business district.
新加坡警方在新闻稿中表示，于周五晚上约9时接获报案，指莱佛士坊80号一座清真寺外发生火灾。该地址对应的是位于UOB Plaza One地下室的毛拉纳·穆罕默德·阿里清真寺。
In a news release, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it was alerted to a fire outside a mosque at 80 Raffles Place at about 9pm on Friday. The address corresponds to that of Masjid Moulana Mohamed Ali, which is located in the basement of UOB Plaza One.
调查发现，一名男子在清真寺入口处放置了一个油罐，并点燃了放在里面的一件内衣。警方指出，这名嫌疑人为华裔，随后离开了现场。警方补充说：“大火被一名公众人士扑灭，无人受伤报告。”警方在接报三小时内逮捕了该男子，并起获一只打火机作为物证。
Authorities found that a man had placed an oil tin at the entrance of the mosque and set fire to a piece of undergarment placed inside. The suspect, who the police said was Chinese, subsequently left the location. "The fire was put out by a member of the public and no injuries were reported," SPF added. SPF officers arrested the man within three hours of the report, seizing a lighter as a case exhibit.
如果被判犯有导致或助长危险火灾风险罪，该男子最高可被判处一年监禁、罚款，或两者兼施。
If found guilty of causing or contributing to the risk of a dangerous fire, the man may face a jail term of up to one year, a fine, or both.
