The commander of the Saudi-led coalition’s Joint Forces, Lt. Gen. Fahd bin Hamad Al-Salman, and Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council member Tareq Saleh discussed on Saturday ways to strengthen coordination and boost the readiness of Yemeni forces across various fronts.

Al-Salman met Saleh, who also commands Yemen’s National Resistance Forces, at the Joint Forces Command headquarters in Riyadh, according to a statement by the coalition.

The two sides reviewed developments in Yemen and discussed ways to strengthen and coordinate efforts to support the readiness of Yemeni forces “on all fronts and axes” toward restoring the state and its institutions.

Al-Salman praised Saleh’s role in the Presidential Leadership Council and his leadership of the National Resistance Forces, as well as “the sacrifices made by their personnel in efforts to restore state authority and end the coup.”Saleh praised the support provided by the Joint Forces Command to the Yemeni military and National Resistance Forces to strengthen their capabilities. He also welcomed efforts to unify ranks and rehabilitate military forces to carry out their duties.

Saleh stressed the importance of further strengthening readiness, coordination and integration among forces in line with the requirements of the next phase.

Both sides emphasized maintaining unity, coordinating efforts and roles, rehabilitating military units and raising their combat readiness in efforts to restore state institutions and security and stability in Yemen. The meeting comes amid renewed fighting between Yemeni government forces and the Houthis across several fronts.
