The China Tech 8 trades at a more than 50% discount to the Magnificent Seven, its widest this year, BI said. That puts pressure on Chinese tech stocks as global markets rebounded on AI momentum last week, according to the analysis.

“China stocks were left out as domestic technology shares fell further behind the Magnificent Seven cohort of US tech giants,” BI analyst Marvin M. Chen said in a report. “Clearer advances in agentic AI will likely be important to the next leg of China’s equity recovery as AI plays a larger role in US-China competition.” Donald Trump and Xi Jinping addressed their intense competition over AI at last week’s summit. The US-China trade truce provides stability but limited near-term upside, BI said.
