Malaysian police were set to begin questioning 10 former Negeri Sembilan state officials on Monday over a disputed bid to remove the state’s long-time ruler.
此前一周，端姑慕里兹·端姑慕纳威解职了这10名前行政议会成员（行政议会相当于州内阁），理由是他们违背效忠誓言，支持废黜君主。
It comes a week after Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir dismissed the 10 ex-members of the executive council, which serves as the state’s cabinet, for breaching their oaths of allegiance by backing his removal.

Negeri Sembilan, south of Kuala Lumpur, has been locked in a months-long struggle over its throne that helped bring down the previous state government and forced a snap election in August. The new administration, led by former ruling party Umno, remains at odds with the palace.

Malaysian Inspector General of Police Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed on Sunday that the councillors would be summoned alongside witnesses and others involved in the dispute.

“Many police reports have been filed by certain parties. We will investigate and record the statements of all involved, including the former exco members,” he said, as cited by state news agency Bernama.

Khalid said investigators were still reviewing the complaints to determine which laws applied, including whether any offences fell under the Sedition Act. “Police investigate, [but] the decision on whether to prosecute and so on rests with the attorney general,” he said.

Negeri Sembilan is the only Malaysian state where four territorial chiefs, known as undang, choose the ruler from eligible princes, instead of the throne passing through a conventional line of succession.

Ismail has maintained that their appointments remain valid and on Thursday demanded that they be allowed back into their offices after being barred from entering and performing their duties.

“Allow the exco members in, allow them to carry out their duties as usual, and state executive council meetings must continue,” he told reporters.

Their dismissal was gazetted that day, and Attorney General Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar reaffirmed on Saturday that it was lawful under the state constitution.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Friday denied federal interference in the dispute but warned against removing a ruler without following constitutional procedures. “I do not agree with overthrowing a ruler so easily,” he was quoted as saying by local media.

Efforts to resolve the crisis continued on Sunday night, when Umno president and Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi met representatives of the parties supporting the state government in Kuala Lumpur.

The talks lasted nearly three hours but ended without an announced resolution, with Ismail declining to speak to reporters, according to local media reports.
