Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed Monday "issues of mutual interest" and maritime security through international waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The meeting took place as part of Farhan's official visit to Washington, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said on The talks "stressed the importance of safeguarding maritime security and freedom of navigation through international waterways, notably the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab, to promote regional stability and ensure the flow of global trade," the ministry stated. The meeting also addressed bilateral ties and regional issues, including the situation in Yemen.
外交部补充说，各方还呼吁“支持外交努力，以应对地区危机，促进安全、和平与稳定”。
The parties also called for "supporting diplomatic efforts to address regional crises and promote security, peace and stability," the ministry added.
据该部介绍，沙特驻美大使丽玛·宾特·班达尔公主、沙特外交大臣黎巴嫩事务顾问叶齐德·本·穆罕默德·法尔汉亲王以及外交大臣的另一位顾问穆萨布·本·穆罕默德·法尔汉亲王也出席了此次会晤。
The meeting was also attended by Saudi Ambassador to the US Princess Reema bint Bandar, the Saudi foreign minister’s adviser on Lebanese affairs, Prince Yazid bin Mohammed Al-Farhan, and another adviser to the foreign minister, Prince Musab bin Mohammed Al-Farhan, the ministry added.
