- Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will announce 20% cut to top brass. Hegseth is expected to unveil the reductions during a Wednesday speech, according to Pentagon officials. The plan will double the 10% reduction to the positions reserved for generals and admirals that the Pentagon chief ordered last year, the officials said. The armed services have been directed to complete the cuts by Jan. 1, 2027.
