Hong Kong national security police have arrested the founder of online media outlet Boom News on suspicion of “incitement by spreading disinformation”, according to a source familiar with the matter.
消息人士称,37岁的Boom News创始人、记者邓浩荣于周三上午7点左右被捕。
The source said journalist Tang Ho-wing, the 37-year-old founder of Boom News, was apprehended at around 7am on Wednesday.
邓浩荣网名“Boom head”或Bobby,曾任香港中文大学学生报《中大学生报》记者及本地网络论坛HK Golden新闻部记者。
Tang, known to internet users as “Boom head” or Bobby, was previously a journalist with the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s student newspaper, Chinese University Student Press, and the news branch of local online forum HK Golden.
2020年他创办Boom News,主要在社交媒体平台运营。截至周三上午,该媒体在相关平台拥有约66,000名粉丝。

In 2020, he started Boom News, which mainly operates on social media platforms. As of Wednesday morning, the outlet had around 66,000 followers on The bio section of its page states: “Please join Patreon to support independent journalists and uphold what remains of our struggling press freedom.”
