Leading traders’ organisations have withdrawn their call to observe October 2 as “No UPI Day” after a delegation of trade representatives met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Wednesday, Moneycontrol reported.

Around 20 senior trade leaders from different states met Sitharaman to flag concerns over the proposed 0.4% fee on merchant UPI payments above ₹2,000 and its potential impact on small and medium businesses.

The proposed fee, which had prompted the traders to call for the protest, is still scheduled to come into effect from October 15.

The delegation was led by Praveen Khandelwal, Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk and secretary general of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).

The All India Consumer Products Federation and the All India Mobile Retailers Association had earlier announced plans to observe October 2 as “No UPI Day” in protest against the proposed charge.
会后，坎德尔瓦尔表示，鉴于与财政部长的讨论以及向贸易界作出的保证，这两个组织决定撤回抗议号召。
Following the meeting, Khandelwal said the two organisations had decided to withdraw the protest call in view of the discussions with the finance minister and the assurance given to the trading community.

He said the decision followed “constructive discussions” and an assurance that the concerns raised by traders would receive due consideration.
