Indonesian authorities on Wednesday began demolishing 10 “apartment” units inside a West Java prison after their discovery triggered an investigation into preferential treatment for inmates.
据印度尼西亚国家通讯社Antara报道，监狱改造局局长Mashudi亲自监督了拆除工作。Mashudi表示：“所有10个单元今天都将被拆除完毕。”
Corrections Director-General Mashudi led the demolition at Cibinong Class IIA Prison in Bogor, Indonesian state news agency Antara reported. “All 10 units. It will be finished today,” Mashudi said as heavy machinery tore down buildings inside the prison compound.
据Antara报道，此次拆除是在众议院第十三委员会与移民及监狱改造部访问该监狱后达成的协议基础上进行的。
The demolition followed an agreement between the House of Representatives’ Commission XIII and the Immigration and Corrections Ministry during a visit to the prison, according to Antara.
该部监察长Rudi Setiawan表示，在拆除前，这些建筑和设施已经完成了记录和清点工作。
Ministry Inspector General Rudi Setiawan said the buildings and facilities had been documented and inventoried before demolition.

A preliminary investigation found they were not financed through Indonesia’s state budget but were built independently, the news agency reported.

Indonesia’s Ombudsman uncovered the compound during a surprise inspection on Sept. 23, finding apartment-style accommodation allegedly occupied by inmates. The units included air conditioners, large televisions, refrigerators, sofas and dining areas, according to the Ombudsman findings reported by Antara. Investigators also found a gym and a golf simulator under construction.
在调查期间，移民及监狱改造部暂停了包括Cibinong监狱负责人Wisnu Hani Putranto在内的五名官员的职务。
The Immigration and Corrections Ministry subsequently suspended five officials, including Cibinong prison chief Wisnu Hani Putranto, while investigating the findings.
目前已有数十名囚犯和监狱工作人员接受询问，以查明囚犯是否获得了未经授权的特权，以及是否有人员为使用这些设施而支付了费用。
Dozens of inmates and prison employees have been questioned as authorities investigate whether prisoners received unauthorized privileges and whether payments were made in exchange for access to the facilities.
