By Wojciech Moskwa US President Donald Trump was wrong to invite his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to this year’s Group of 20 meeting in Atlanta, according to Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski.

“Putin shouldn’t be treated as a welcome guest as long as he’s waging an aggressive, colonial war,” Sikorski told Polish daily Rzeczpospolita. Trump’s approach “unfortunately helps pull Putin out of isolation,” he said.

Sikorski’s comments underscore a tricky balancing act for Poland’s nationalist president, Karol Nawrocki, who will represent the country at summit on a personal invitation from Trump. Nawrocki is blacklisted by Russia but has sought close ties with the US president, who endorsed him in last year’s election.
