Wisconsin Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Crowley is nearly tied with his Republican opponent, Rep. Tom Tiffany (Wis.), according to a new poll.

In the Marquette University Law School Wisconsin poll, 46 percent of respondents said they would cast their ballots for Crowley if the election occurred that day, while 45 percent said the same of Tiffany. Nine percent were undecided.

The margin of error in the poll is plus or minus 4.3 percentage points.

Wisconsin, which currently has a Democratic governor, was won by President Trump in the last presidential election. The state has developed a swing state reputation in the last decade.

However, Republicans are facing a challenging electoral environment this year as they head into the midterms. The GOP is dealing with issues like Trump’s slipping approval rating, the unpopular war in Iran that just passed the seven-month mark and economic concerns.

Last week, Tiffany reiterated his calls to Trump to end the fighting in Iran. FOX6 News Milwaukee reporter Jason Calvi pressed the Wisconsin Republican about why he had not supported a war powers resolution on multiple occasions in the House, despite pushing for an end to the conflict.

“The president has final say in regards to this,” Tiffany replied, according to a video shared by Calvi on social media.

“I just believe that we should be exiting Iran, that it’s time to move on,” the GOP lawmaker added. “We’ve degraded their nuclear facilities. We degraded their military. Most of their ships are at the bottom of the ocean. Time to come home, take care of business here in America.”The Marquette Law poll took place from Sept. 16-23 and featured 843ed voters in Wisconsin.
