SEOUL: South Korean President Lee Jae Myung said Friday (Oct 2) Seoul would take "further measures" if Ukraine refuses to publicly apologise over what he called its unilateral disclosure of North Korean prisoners of war being sent to South Korea.
乌克兰总统弗拉基米尔·泽连斯基上周披露，该国已将两名朝鲜士兵送往韩国，并称他们“不容易被活捉”。
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy disclosed last week that his country had sent two North Korean soldiers to the South, saying they were "not easy to capture alive".
泽连斯基在联合国发表上述言论数小时后，韩国总统李在明对此表示沮丧，首尔方面声称保密是保护战俘亲属免受朝鲜任何报复的关键。首尔随后要求乌克兰正式道歉。
Hours after Zelensky's remarks at the United Nations, South Korea's Lee expressed his dismay, with Seoul claiming confidentiality was key to protecting the prisoners of war's relatives from any repercussions in North Korea. Seoul later demanded an official apology from Ukraine.
“如果乌克兰继续拒绝承认事实并公开道歉，我们将采取进一步措施，”韩国总统周五表示，并指责基辅方面将他描绘成“骗子”。
"If Ukraine continues to refuse to acknowledge the facts and publicly apologise, we will take further measures," said the South Korean President on Friday, accusing Kyiv of making him out to be a "liar".
“这是关乎大韩民国及其人民尊严的问题，不能置之不理，”李在明在发文中提到，他指的是乌克兰外长安德里·西比哈周四接受RBC-乌克兰及其他乌克兰媒体采访的内容。
"This is a matter concerning the dignity of the Republic of Korea and its people and cannot be overlooked," Lee posted on Lee referred to an interview with Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha published by RBC-Ukraine and other Ukrainian outlets on Thursday.
西比哈表示，他“不愿将其称为事件”，而是将其描述为“外交误解”。
Sybiha said he would "not like to call it an incident", describing it instead as a "diplomatic misunderstanding".
“韩国对我们来说是一个重要国家。我非常希望保持势头、继续合作，并取得我们确实正在与他们共同实现的具体成果，”他说。
"South Korea is an important country for us. And I very much hope for momentum, continued cooperation, and concrete results that we are indeed achieving with them," he said.
