Archaeologists in southern Germany have unearthed an early Bavarian, Baiuvarii, settlement dating from the 7th and 8th centuries.

More than 4,000 artifacts, 70 graves, and traces of workshops, trade, and dwellings offer rare insights into the lives of these people.

The findings show that the early Bavarians were prosperous, specialized in various crafts, and well-connected. What will remain of us? Probably mountains of synthetic clothing. Currently, ultra-fast fashion is leading to ever-shorter lifespans for clothing. Many garments are barely ever worn.
