The Court of Justice of the European Union said Warsaw's case against the deal lacked evidence. The EU Court of Justice Tuesday dismissed Poland’s request to suspend the EU–Mercosur Interim Trade Agreement while judges are examining Warsaw’s case against the deal.
In a largely symbolic legal challenge back in May, Poland asked the court to suspend the deal to lower trade barriers between the EU and Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. But the court’s vice-president Thomas von Danwitz said Warsaw’s case lacked evidence.
“Poland has not sufficiently demonstrated” that the deal “is liable to cause serious and irreparable damage” that would justify its suspension, a statement from the CJEU reads.
