MANILA: The Philippines, chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), expressed concern over an airstrike in Myanmar's Rakhine state that caused deaths, injuries and destruction, and stood ready to facilitate discussions within the regional bloc on how best to assist Myanmar.
菲律宾外交部东盟事务助理秘书安娜·玛丽·埃尔南多于10月3日周六在电子邮件中表示：“菲律宾正密切注视事态发展，对此次造成破坏、人员伤亡的袭击事件深感担忧。”
"The Philippines is closely monitoring developments and expresses concern over the attacks which resulted in destruction, loss of lives and injuries to those affected," Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for ASEAN Affairs Ana Marie Hernando said in an email response on Saturday (Oct 3).
作为东盟轮值主席国，菲律宾表示将充分尊重各成员国的意见，并继续遵循东盟以共识为基础的决策原则。
EAN chair, Manila said it remained mindful of the views of all member states and would continue to be guided by the regional bloc's consensus-based approach.
菲律宾还表示，愿依照“由缅甸自主主导解决方案”这一共同愿景，协助东盟探讨援助缅甸的具体途径。
The Philippines said it stood ready to facilitate discussions within ASEAN on ways to assist Myanmar, in line with the common aspiration of finding a solution that is "Myanmar-owned and led".
