Jim is especially focused on the final hour of trading each day, when volume picks up into the 4:00 p.m. ET close. During that period, zero-day options, which expire that same day, can contribute to outsized swings in the stock as traders adjust their positions. "They [Nvidia] have to stay there. They can't walk away at 3:20 and have the sellers come in," Jim said. "What people have to recognize when you're doing a buyback is it can't be episodic." Nvidia has to use its buyback firepower when selling pressure is at its greatest, he added.

In other words, an orderly and well-executed buyback program can absorb some of that late-day selling. Jim's comments came after Nvidia touched a fresh intraday all-time high on Friday but lost steam throughout the session, missing a record close. The stock is up over 1% Monday and pacing for a new record close. 3. Following up on his Sunday Column , Jim reiterated a few Club stocks that he wants to buy, starting with Home Depot .

Another buy is Boeing , which just landed a new contract with the Navy, averted an employee strike, and had the FAA say its software glitch doesn't pose a safety threat. Jim had been waiting for clarity on the latter two issues before recommending investors buy the stock.
