NAGOYA, Japan/TOKYO -- Toyota Motor said Monday it will launch a new version of its hydrogen-powered Sora fuel cell bus, with a cruising range of more than 300 kilometers, about 100 km farther than the previous model.
丰田自2018年起便开始提供Sora客车。新车型与五十铃汽车联合开发，将五十铃开发的客车平台与丰田的燃料电池系统结合在一起。
Toyota has offered the Sora since 2018. The new model was jointly developed with Isuzu Motors. It combines a bus platform developed by Isuzu with Toyota's fuel cell system.

By using both the fuel cell system and a high-capacity battery, the new bus achieves a longer cruising range while improving usability. It features a device that makes it easier to secure wheelchairs inside the vehicle, along with the latest safety equipment. The fuel cell system and hydrogen tanks are mounted on the roof to facilitate vehicle maintenance.

Isuzu also said Monday that it would begin selling the Erga FCV, its first fuel cell bus. The vehicle will be manufactured at the Utsunomiya plant of J-Bus, a joint venture between Isuzu and Hino Motors. Its basic structure is nearly identical to the new Toyota Sora.

The bus has a cruising range of more than 300 km. Safety features include a system that detects pedestrians and cyclists in front of the vehicle and alerts the driver, as well as equipment that slows and stops the bus if the driver experiences a medical emergency or other abnormal condition. The price of the model was not disclosed.
