This will also be the first time that the ceremony has had a dedicated home, as the show rotated across broadcasters like ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC over the past seven decades.

Prime Video will stream the awards show worldwide for six years for free, starting in 2027, where it will go live in over 240 countries and territories. Non-Amazon Primers will also be able to watch the awards show on the Prime Video platform. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The move comes as the Emmys face potential viewership declines, as more of its audience moves to streaming services. This year’s ratings for the 78th primetime Emmy Awards on NBC were down nearly 10% from the year prior, after a couple of years of growth, the AP reported. However, the telecast’s 6.87 million viewers this year were higher than its all-time low of 4.3 million in January 2024.
