CAQ leader speaks one day after party comes up empty in general election Christine Fréchette, Quebec’s outgoing premier, announced Tuesday that she will be stepping down as leader of the Coalition Avenir Québec party. The announcement comes one day after the party’s crushing defeat in the provincial election that saw it go from a massive majority just four years ago to being wiped off the electoral map.
