A man who was struck twice by a police car after chasing officers with a knife and injuring a police dog has admitted assault.
29岁的利努斯·卢奥帕斯在阿伯丁家附近持刀威胁另一名无辜男子后，警察驾车将其撞倒，用警棍击打并使用了防暴喷雾。去年2月28日，卢奥帕斯在试图制服过程中还被警犬宙斯咬伤。在格拉斯哥高等法院出庭时，他对五项袭击指控表示认罪。
Officers ran over Linus Luopas, struck him with batons and used incapacitant spray on the 29-year-old after he wielded the blade at another innocent man near his home in Aberdeen. Luopas was also bitten by police dog Zeus during efforts to subdue him on 28 February last year. He pleaded guilty to five charges of assault during an appearance at the High Court in Glasgow.

The Scottish Police Federation (SPF) raised concerns over the handling of the incident after it was claimed an armed response unit was called to the scene, but was unable to take action due to a lack of authorisation.

Footage of the incident showed Luopas being flipped over the car bonnet on Seaforth Road before bouncing up and attempting to confront another officer.

The video showed Luopas chasing an officer around a parked police car before being struck a second time and again standing up and pursuing officers with the weapon. Officers then closed in on Luopas, including one handling Zeus.

The dog, a six-year-old Belgian Malinois, was injured in the incident and had to be taken to a vet for treatment.

Police had initially been called to the scene after Luopas was reported to have run at another man with the knife. He could be heard shouting: "So, who's getting it first?". An armed response vehicle was called to the scene, as per protocol for incidents involving a knife.

However, it later emerged those officers had not been cleared to act, meaning police had to use alternative means.

During the hearing in Glasgow, Luopas' lawyer said police were not to be "unleashed to do violence with the tools they are equipped with". Luopas will be sentenced at a later date.
