New Class Action Accuses Visa, Mastercard, and Major U.S. Banks of Inflating Post-2019 Credit Card Interchange Fees On September 30, 2026, San Diego-based The Pizza Standard LLC filed a proposed antitrust class action lawsuit in New York against Visa, Mastercard, and major U.S. banks, including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, and Capital One.

The complaint alleges that the financial institutions conspired to artificially inflate credit card interchange and network fees, extracting more than $100 billion annually through anticompetitive rules that block steering and competition.

The lawsuit seeks monetary damages on behalf of U.S. merchants that accepted Visa and Mastercard credit cards from January 25, 2019 onward, asserting that previous settlements provided no compensation for fees paid after that date.
