The Liberal government announced on Wednesday that it is introducing a new bill that would amend more than 30 laws in an effort to reduce red tape in the federal bureaucracy.
The government says the new bill, S-7, includes "targeted amendments to reduce unnecessary regulatory burden," according to a news release.
The amendments cover a wide range of topics, including: fertilizer regulations, bankruptcy procedures, Canadian Dairy Commission appointments, animal waste management and how departments use electronic tools and adopt new technologies.
The bill is being introduced after Prime Minister Mark Carney ordered a cross-departmental review of all federal regulations in July 2025. Treasury Board President Shafqat Ali said in September of last year that the drive had resulted in departments identifying hundreds of ways to cut red tape.
