President Emmerson Mnangagwa has split the country’s finance ministry into two and made wealthy ally Kudakwashe Tagwirei a minister. Tagwirei, who has been sanctioned by the US and UK for alleged corruption, will be Minister of Economic Development and Investment Promotion, Mnangagwa said in a statement on Thursday.

Mthuli Ncube, who had held the post prior to the split, will be Minister of Finance.
