Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al Jaber, said on Friday that the Bab el-Mandeb Strait has been "cleared" of the Houthi group.
阿尔贾贝尔在美国社交平台X上发文称：“祝大家有个吉祥的周五，愿所有也门人和阿拉伯人都能取得胜利。曼德海峡现已清除胡塞恐怖武装的残余分子。”不过他并未透露更多细节。目前胡塞武装尚未对该大使的声明作出回应。
"Blessed Friday, and victory for every Yemeni and Arab. Bab al-Mandeb has been cleared of the remnants of the Houthi terrorist militia," Al Jaber said in a post on US social media company X, without providing further details.
自2014年胡塞武装占领也门首都萨那及多个省份后，也门便陷入持续战乱。为此，沙特牵头组建联军，于2015年3月出兵协助也门合法政府。
The Houthis did not immediately comment on the ambassador's statement. Yemen has been engulfed in conflict since the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and several provinces in 2014, prompting a Saudi-led coalition to intervene in March 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government.
今年7月爆发的军事冲突，成为2022年联合国斡旋达成停火协议后也门境内规模最大的交战。9月冲突进一步升级，胡塞武装先后占领了荷台达省与塔伊兹省的多处要地，甚至推进至曼德海峡的马尤恩岛。为夺回失地，也门政府军本周发起了“也门黎明行动”。
The military escalation that began in July has marked the most extensive fighting in Yemen since the relative calm that followed a UN-brokered truce in 2022. As clashes intensified in September, the Houthis seized several key areas in Hudaydah and Taiz provinces and advanced as far as Mayyun Island in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. Government forces launched Operation Dawn of Yemen this week to retake Houthi-held territory.
