Ulle Madise, Estonia’s former chancellor of justice, took office as president on Monday at a ceremony in parliament in Tallinn, Estonian public broadcaster ERR reported.

Madise took the oath of office in the Session Hall of the Riigikogu, Estonia’s parliament, after outgoing President Alar Karis delivered his final address as head of state. Madise then delivered her first speech as president. The 51-year-old lawyer was elected president in a secret ballot in parliament, receiving 71 votes.
马迪塞出生并受教育于塔尔图，曾担任多个公共部门职务，包括司法部、国家会议宪法委员会和国家审计办公室。
Born and educated in Tartu, Madise has held several public-sector positions, including at the Justice Ministry, the Riigikogu’s Constitutional Committee and the National Audit Office.

She served as chancellor of justice from 2015 and was reappointed for a second term in late 2021.
马迪塞由代表改革党、爱沙尼亚200党、祖国党、社会民主党以及无党派议员的75名议员提名。
Madise was nominated by 75 members of parliament representing the Reform Party, Eesti 200, Isamaa, the Social Democrats and unaffiliated lawmakers.
