Ahold Delhaize Hit by Cybersecurity Incident, Disrupting Supermarket Distribution Across Europe and US
A cybersecurity incident at multinational grocery retailer Ahold Delhaize has disrupted operations across its global network, halting work at multiple Albert Heijn distribution centers in the Netherlands and threatening retail shortages, particularly for fresh produce. The IT outages, which began on Sunday afternoon, have also disabled websites and online order fulfillment across European brands and more than 2,000 U.S. stores, including Food Lion, Giant Food, and Hannaford. Albert Heijn reported that only its Zaandam distribution facility remains operational and warned of variable store availability. Online shopping and loyalty systems remain temporarily offline, with compensation promised to affected shoppers. Following the disruption, Ahold Delhaize shares fell 3.15 percent on Euronext Amsterdam to close at 31.38 euros.
