Trading has hired the founding team of a startup that trades access to computing power, according to a statement on social media, as market makers move into an emerging asset class underpinning the AI boom.

Jump has ‘acqui-hired’ Affaan Mustafa and Alejandro Soumah Fernandez, founders of Ito Markets Inc., a proprietary trading startup focused on buying and selling access to computing capacity, according to a post by Ito Markets on X. The pair have joined Jump to lead a new compute trading desk. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.

Ito sought to connect AI startups with the computing capacity they need to develop and run their business plans.
