The Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board has revoked Carlsberg India's permission to operate its brewery in Alwar and ordered it to shut down immediately over alleged violations of pollution control rules. According to the board's order, an inspection by the Central Pollution Control Board on July 15, 2026, found particulate matter emissions of 633 mg/Nm³ at the brewery, against the permitted limit of 80 mg/Nm³. The state board also flagged gaps in the reporting of emissions data.

On September 29, the CPCB directed state pollution control boards to take immediate action against non-compliant units, including closure and sealing where required.

The brewery had received permission to operate on April 24, 2024, valid until October 31, 2028, subject to compliance with specified conditions. However, citing the inspection findings and failure to comply with CPCB directions, the RSPCB revoked the permission and ordered the closure of the unit at Agro Food Park, MIA Extension, Alwar, with immediate effect.
