India’s quasi-sovereign wealth fund is planning to invest up to $800 million in data centers and related businesses, seeking to expand in the space after drawing billions in added investments.

Between $700 million to $800 million of that will go to data centers, he said.

It’s backed by the Indian government alongside global investors such as Temasek Holdings Pte, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and AustralianSuper Pty.

As global demand for AI computing capacity has accelerated, India has sought to strengthen its position as a data center hub. An estimated $90 billion investment opportunity could emerge across India’s data center value chain by fiscal year 2035, extending beyond capacity additions into related infrastructure and services, according to a KPMG report.
