Tourism Entertainment Group became the country’s first company to list in the US as businesses from Central Asia’s second-largest economy are becoming increasingly popular among overseas investors, allowing them to raise money on international markets.

TEG, which works in hospitality, tourism and the events businesses, completed a reverse takeover with StageWise Strategies Corp., whose shares are quoted on the OTCID Basic Market, according to a statement released Wednesday.
财务总监特穆尔·佐基罗夫在采访中表示，此次交易完成后，旅游娱乐集团的流通股比例不足1%，但公司计划在12月前进行融资，预计届时公开流通股比例将提升至公司总股本的10%左右。
TEG’s free float is below 1% following the transaction, but the company plans to raise capital by December in a move that’s expected to increase the proportion of publicly traded shares to about 10% of its capital, Chief Financial Officer Temur Zokirov said in an interview.

Uzbekistan is among the fastest growing economies globally and has increasingly come into the spotlight of international investors. The government and some of the nation’s biggest companies have been tapping European markets for several years, and this year a state-owned fund completed its debut initial public offering in London. Under President Donald Trump, the US has stepped up efforts to expand its presence and deepen economic ties with the region.
佐基罗夫称，为提升自身知名度、获取国际资本并确立基于市场的企业估值，旅游娱乐集团目前正与Kingswood US旗下的一家子公司以及总部位于塔什干的Bluestone公司合作，共同组织此次股票发售。募集到的资金将用于通过收购及新建酒店和其他设施的方式，进一步拓展在乌兹别克斯坦的业务。
The company is now working with a unit of Kingswood US and Tashkent-based firm Bluestone to organize the share sale as it seeks to boost its profile, provide access to international capital and establish a market-based valuation, Zokirov said. The proceeds will be used to expand its business in Uzbekistan through acquisitions and the development of new hotels and other facilities.

Revenue last year stood at almost $43 million, while earnings before interest, taxes, deprecation and amortization grew 84% year on year to almost $23 million, according to a company presentation.

TEG is a part of AKFA Group, one of Central Asia’s largest privately owned business conglomerates. It’s owned by Uzbek entrepreneur Jakhongir Artikkhodjaev, who is a former mayor of Uzbekistan’s capital city, Tashkent.

Tourism is expanding rapidly as the country draws more visitors to Silk Road cities such as Bukhara and Samarkand. The boom is fueling investment in hotels, with major international brands including Marriott, Hyatt, Radisson and Accor already operating in the country.

TEG’s current portfolio includes Hilton Tashkent City, the group’s largest profit contributor. It also features the Central Asian Expo exhibition complex, which hosts major events including the Tashkent International Investment Forum, and the Wyndham Bukhara hotel.
