The number of women killed by their current or former partners in France rose 4% in 2025, reaching 111 victims, according to figures released Wednesday by the Interior Ministry.

Police and gendarmerie recorded 136 violent deaths involving current or former partners last year, compared with 138 in 2024, a decrease of 1%, the ministry said in its annual study. Of the victims, 25 were men, down 19% from the previous year. On average, one person died every three days in a case involving a current or former partner, according to the report.

Authorities also recorded 445 attempted homicides involving current or former partners in 2025, accounting for 10% of the 4,365 attempted homicides recorded nationwide. The share was up from 9% in 2024, the study said.
