Sachs Group Inc. is seeing strong momentum across Japan, India, and China partly driven by artificial intelligence infrastructure spending, the company’s president for Asia-Pacific ex-Japan Kevin Sneader said in an interview with Bloomberg TV.

Sneader pointed to North Asia as a particular beneficiary of AI-related capital expenditure, noting that Goldman identified 42 AI-enabling companies listed on Indian exchanges that were collectively growing around 60% in market performance, pushing back against the narrative that India is disadvantaged by lacking a large language model of its own.

“India is home to what we call AI enablers,” he said, on the sidelines of the Bloomberg New Economy Forum on Wednesday.

He added that 42% of India’s agricultural sector is available for AI augmentation, representing a significant longer-term opportunity. The bank opened a new office in Mumbai last year.

On China, Sneader acknowledged a complicated macro picture — sluggish domestic consumption offset by a strong manufacturing and technology sector — but said Goldman Sachs intends to remain an active participant.

“We believe the trade continues. We want to be part of that trade,” he said, dismissing the idea that being an American firm was a prohibitive obstacle in the current US-China trade environment, noting that the world’s second-largest economy still offers ample territory for client-driven activity.

In Hong Kong, Sneader said there’s still momentum in IPO activity. He welcomed increased regulatory scrutiny on IPO pricing, calling transparency and clarity “really what matters” and suggested tighter standards could ultimately generate more business for well-positioned firms.

On AI’s impact on Goldman Sachs’s own workforce, Sneader said hiring remains broad-based and that it is “too early to predict” how AI will reshape staffing, while affirming the bank’s continued focus on cost discipline.
