Hundreds of police officers protested low salaries and living costs in Athens on Thursday and demanded measures to address the financial pressures they face, according to PoliceNET. Officers gathered outside the former Police Officers’ Academy before planning to march toward the relevant ministry.

The demonstration was held by the police employees’ unions of the capital Athens and the port city of Thessaloniki, which urged police unions in Greece to join the protest.
The unions said officers faced common problems and challenges and demanded “substantial solutions and dignity.”The unions also called for recognition of the contributions made by officers serving in the two largest urban centers, citing the pressures they face in their work.
The protest followed complaints from police representatives about low salaries and the rising cost of living, which they said made it difficult to cover everyday expenses.
