Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has launched a new centre to monitor India's international trade, analyse export trends and help government officials speed up regulatory clearances. The National Strategic Trade Command Centre will bring together data from various trade-related systems to help policymakers track trade performance, identify delays and take corrective action. While reviewing the dashboard for SCOMET , Goyal called for weekly meetings of the Inter-Ministerial Committee to clear pending applications and ensure faster approvals.

The centre will use interactive dashboards to track key trade indicators, government export schemes, pending applications, processing times, regional performance and compliance requirements. Officials will be able to analyse data by product, export destination, scheme and individual application, depending on their access permissions. In its initial phase, the platform will cover key functions of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade , including Importer Exporter Code , Advance Authorisation, Export Promotion Capital Goods , Certificates of Origin, SCOMET and approvals for restricted imports and exports.

The data will help officials monitor how government schemes are being used, whether exporters are meeting their obligations, how quickly applications are processed and how trade patterns are changing across markets. The initiative has three main objectives: improving the monitoring of trade and pending applications, comparing the performance of schemes and regional offices, and using data to identify procedural hurdles and simplify regulations. The centre will also help officials identify export opportunities, assess how effectively businesses are using India's trade agreements and track the country's position in international markets. The NSTCC will initially draw on existing digital systems, including DGFT platforms and the Trade Connect ePlatform.

The government plans to gradually integrate data from other departments and trade-related agencies. Over time, the centre is expected to expand into a government-wide decision-making platform accessible to authorised stakeholders, including ministries, state governments and export promotion councils. The government also plans to introduce automated alerts and more advanced data analysis. Later in the day, Goyal held a review meeting on reforms in India's trade and commerce administration. Discussions focused on faster decision-making, simpler compliance requirements, quicker clearances for businesses and measures to improve ease of doing business.
