Workers at Antofagasta Plc’s Centinela copper mine in Chile voted Saturday to accept a new wage offer, signaling the end of a strike that had threatened to disrupt production at a time of tight global supplies.

Members of two unions that had been on strike since Oct. 7 approved Antofagasta’s latest proposal, a union official said in text messages. Once contracts are signed, the stoppage would conclude.

The agreement comes days after more than 1,000 supervisors and staff at BHP Group’s Escondida accepted a last-minute deal that averted a walkout at the world’s biggest copper mine. The two settlements ease concerns over supply disruptions just as producers struggle to keep pace with growing demand.

The end of the Centinela strike removes one headache for Chile’s copper industry, though plenty remain. Output in the top-producing country has been battered by accidents, severe weather and operational setbacks, contributing to constrained global supplies.

At the same time, the threat of tariffs is drawing metal into US warehouses, while demand for copper used in power grids and data centers is surging, with the metal trading near record highs.

The two Centinela unions, representing about 700 workers, began their strike after regular collective negotiations failed to resolve differences over pay and benefits. The site, one of Antofagasta’s four mining operations in Chile, produced 240,400 metric tons of copper last year.
