China's solar power equipment exports fell 6.4% in September from the same month last year, customs data showed on Sunday.

China, the world's largest solar manufacturer, exported 1.21 million metric tons of solar cells and panels in September. That was down from September a year earlier but up from 840,000 tons in August.

In the year through September, China exported 9.37 million tons of the equipment, down 9.5%. September solar exports were valued at $3.34 billion, up 19.4%.

On a per-unit basis, China shipped 11.3% more cells and panels, or 1.44 billion.
