Bapoo, who joined BMO in 2007, will remain in Miami and take on the newly created position immediately, according to an internal memo seen by Bloomberg News. He will continue to report to co-heads of global metals and mining Ilan Bahar and Jamie Rogers, as well as Warren Estey, head of investment banking, the note said.

The bank views Florida as a “growing hub” for mining, metals and industrial clients, according to the note. A spokesperson from BMO declined to comment.
