The US Department of Energy on Tuesday said it would invest roughly $967 million in additional funding to modernize critical energy infrastructure in a bid to lower surging electricity costs.

The funding is through the Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grant program and will support projects to help states, territories and tribes invest in infrastructure improvements to ensure more affordable and dependable power, the DOE said.
