Electric Co. is working to increase engine deliveries for the 787 Dreamliner as customer Boeing Co. seeks to ramp production of its popular widebody jet.

GE delivered more than 50 GEnX engines for the 787 in the third quarter, which Culp described as a “sequential increase” over the last three months.

The production increase is critical for the planemaker to meet red-hot demand from airlines for new widebody jets and maintain the company’s segment lead over European rival Airbus SE. Boeing has plans to reach a 14-per-month pace.
