Entertainment has revived talks to acquire Lionsgate Studios Corp. and submitted a takeover offer, according to people familiar with the matter.

The producer of the and film franchises had weighed making a bid for Lionsgate last year, Bloomberg reported at the time. Since then, the two parties have held on-and-off talks about a potential deal, said the people, who asked not to be named as the information is private. Legendary is owned by Apollo Global Management Inc. and company management. Representatives for Legendary, Lionsgate and Apollo declined to comment.

It would also provide Legendary with a theatrical distribution network. Since September 2025, Legendary’s pictures — including the just-released — have been distributed by Skydance Corp.’s Paramount Pictures as part of a multiyear pact.
