Management Corp. is joining forces with Norway’s sovereign wealth fund to buy €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion) of European warehouses.

This is the first venture between the alternative asset manager and the $2.2 trillion fund, according to a statement Wednesday. It will utilize Ares’ Marq Logistics platform, which manages more than 2,250 properties globally, to help source deals and manage the properties, the company said.

Norges Bank Investment Management has committed €1.5 billion of equity to the venture and will have a 96% stake, according to a separate statement. The fund already owns about €11.5 billion of logistics properties across Europe and North America.
