China said Thursday there was “no gray area” on the Taiwan question after the Philippines reaffirmed its One China Policy while criticizing recent social media statements by the Chinese Embassy in Manila.
中国外交部发言人毛宁在北京的例行记者会上表示：“台湾问题不存在‘灰色地带’。”
“There’s no gray area on the Taiwan question,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning told a regular news briefing in Beijing.
毛宁说：“菲方应以实际行动恪守一个中国原则，中国台湾地区的对外往来必须严格按照一个中国原则办理。”
“The Philippines should uphold the one-China principle with concrete action, and external exchanges by China’s Taiwan region should be handled in strict accordance with the one-China principle,” Mao said.
她的表态之际，菲律宾外交部（DFA）周四发表声明，重申马尼拉坚持一个中国政策，该政策以1975年菲中联合公报为基础。
Her remarks came as the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) issued a statement Thursday reaffirming Manila’s adherence to the One China Policy, anchored in the 1975 Philippines-China Joint Communique.
菲外交部表示：“我们完全理解并尊重中国政府的立场，即世界上只有一个中国，台湾是中国领土不可分割的一部分。”“多年来，菲律宾的相关法规反映了该国坚定不移地执行其一个中国政策。”
The DFA said “we fully understand and respect the position of the Chinese Government that there is but one China and that Taiwan is an integral part of Chinese territory.”“Throughout the years, the Philippines’ relevant regulations reflect the country’s unwavering implementation of its One China Policy,” the statement said.
然而，马尼拉同时也批评了中国大使馆近期在社交媒体上的言论，形容其语气和措辞“具有升级性且不合外交礼仪”。菲外交部称，此类言论“侵蚀相互信任和信心”，破坏改善双边关系的努力。
However, Manila also criticized recent social media statements by the Chinese Embassy, describing their tone and language as “escalatory and undiplomatic.”Such statements “erode mutual trust and confidence” and undermine efforts to improve bilateral relations, the DFA said.
菲外交部提醒外国外交官在公开声明中，特别是在社交媒体上，应保持克制和负责任。
It reminded foreign diplomats to exercise restraint and responsibility in public statements, particularly on social media.

The department said the embassy’s statements did not reflect the longstanding spirit of constructive engagement between the two countries.
