Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf will not attend the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in New Delhi due to “unforeseen circumstances”, the Iranian Embassy in India said on Saturday. However, an Iranian parliamentary delegation will participate in the meeting scheduled for October 26-27. In a statement issued on October 24, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi said Qalibaf, the Speaker of Iran's Islamic Consultative Assembly, would be unable to attend the meeting of speakers of the parliaments of BRICS member countries.

The embassy reaffirmed Iran's commitment to active and effective participation at the highest levels in BRICS summits and meetings.
