Infrastructure Development Group, which operates in Africa and Asia, plans to invest at least $1 billion each year until 2030 as more investors increase allocation to facilities.

The funds will go toward projects in renewable energy — primarily solar, wind, hydropower, geothermal,” PIDG Chief Executive Officer Philippe Valahu said in an interview. “Other planned projects are in electric mobility, telecommunication towers, agribusiness infrastructure such as solar-powered drip irrigation, social infrastructure such as student accommodation and water transport, with plans to venture into fiber-optic networks.”Last year, PIDG — which is funded by the governments of the UK, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, and Sweden — deployed about $1 billion, he said.

Some of it will come from external fundraising activities.”Set up 25 years ago, PIDG is active in 24 sub-Saharan African nations including Senegal, Angola, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and South Africa.

In 2025 alone, it invested $1 billion across 33 projects with a total investment of $4.1 billion. PIDG has mobilized $2.8 billion through green bonds thus far globally.
