Italian President Sergio Mattarella on Monday called for rapid action against "improper and uncontrolled" use of artificial intelligence and warned against manipulation of information with fake news, according to local media.

"We must act swiftly and effectively to prevent the improper and uncontrolled use” of artificial intelligence, Mattarella said at the opening ceremony of the Festival of Regions, ANSA news agency reported. He stressed the need for establishing and implementing an appropriate regulation.
马塔雷拉还说：“就在今天，已经显而易见的是，信息操纵——包括利用互联网提供的能力散布假新闻——能够影响公众舆论，塑造公众的观点和选择。”
"Already today, it is evident how the manipulation of information, including through the spread of false news using the capabilities offered by the internet, can influence public opinion and shape its views and choices," Mattarella also said.

He warned against the risk of losing control over technological processes with the development of models through machine learning.
