Group Inc. warned it may not survive the next year as the Harley-Davidson Inc.-backed maker of electric motorcycles battles liquidity concerns and weak demand.
The company on Thursday reported adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of negative $14.7 million, continuing a string of losses since it was spun out of Harley in 2022. LiveWire also withdrew its financial guidance for the year, which had called for an operating loss of as much as $80 million.
Management determined that the mounting troubles “raise substantial doubt about the company’s ability to continue as a going concern,” the company said in a regulatory filing.
LiveWire shares dropped 5.6% in premarket trading in New York. They have fallen 64% this year through Wednesday’s close.
The warning came several days after LiveWire said it had formed a special restructuring committee to consider all options, including potential refinancing, partnerships or a sale.
LiveWire has struggled to gain traction as an independent company. Harley, which maintains a majority stake, had pushed the electric motorcycle business as a way to appeal to a new generation of riders seeking new and more environmentally friendly technologies.
