The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Thursday, October 29, announced Vijay Sankar as its President-Elect for 2026-27. Sankar, currently the industry body's Senior Vice President, will succeed Anant Goenka as president following FICCI's Annual General Meeting and Annual Convention, scheduled for November 18-19 in New Delhi. The appointment was announced at FICCI's National Executive Committee Meeting in Mumbai.

Sankar is the Honorary Consul General of Denmark in Chennai. In recognition of his consular services, he has received the Knight's Cross of the Order of Dannebrog from the King of Denmark. He is also a recipient of the Loyola Alumni Association's Business Leader Award.

Sankar holds a master's degree in business administration from the J L Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He is also a qualified chartered accountant.
