San Francisco’s Biological Computing Co. released TBC Mischief 1, an image-to-video model built on Wan 2.2. It says insights from living neurons make it about five times faster at the same quality, priced at $0.005 per second of video. It has not published independent benchmarks.
San Francisco startup The Biological Computing Co. has released an AI video model sped up with lessons from living brain cells, the company said on Thursday.
TBC Mischief 1 turns still images into short videos. It is built on Wan 2.2, an open video model from Alibaba, and is available on the developer platforms fal and OpenRouter.
TBC says it runs about five times faster than Wan 2.2 at the same quality. It costs $0.005 per second of video, so a five-second clip costs 2.5 cents. The company has not published independent tests to back up the speed claim.
The neurons stay in TBC’s lab. The company studies how lab-grown networks of neurons respond to signals, then turns what it learns into a small software add-on that runs on normal AI chips.
“We’re building a platform that can change the economics of AI at scale,” said Jon Pomeraniec, TBC’s co-founder and chief operating officer.
The launch follows TBC’s deal with Amazon Web Services in September to sell its models to businesses. Others want neurons to do the computing themselves: a rack of living neurons is already running in Singapore.
